Moving to a new location means we’ve got a whole bunch of new neighbors for you to enjoy while we repair your device! We’ve taken a quick liking to Firecakes because:

  1. They are friendly and awesome.

Free Donuts & Coffee

This is why we are so excited to feature Firecakes’ donuts and coffee during our Grand Opening celebration! From April 1 – 14 we will offer FREE coffee and donuts at our shop . Here is who is allowed to partake in this delicious treat:

  1. Everyone

You’ll notice that did not say, “our customers”. Of course, our customers are included in “everyone” so we hope they’ll indulge. Own or work at another Lincoln Park business? Come on down and enjoy donuts & coffee. Coming down to shop for shoes? Come in and enjoy. Did we mention they’re free?

I could continue doing this for a long time but I’ll spare you. If you’re reading this, you’re included in “Everyone” so please come in, grab a treat and some liquid energy and say hello. We’d love to meet you.

Now a bit more about Firecakes…

Free Firecake Donuts & Coffee
Boo snow. Yay donuts!

Firecakes makes donuts exciting (as if donuts needed any help) by offering small-batch donuts made in-house! They started in River North, and opened up their Lincoln Park location in January of 2016. They’ve got some out-of-this-world donut flavors, like Red Velvet, Coconut Cream, and Espresso, but they take donuts to the next level with their Giant Birthday Cake donut.

Even more impressive is their Ice Cream Donut Sandwich. I haven’t tried it yet, but I’ve envied it from afar, and it is exactly what it sounds like. A tasty donut cut in half with ice cream in the middle. There has never been a tastier way to spend some time while your phone gets fixed!

Great donuts are only part of their attraction. They also brew great coffee by La Colombe. Americano? Check! Latte? Check! Cold Brew? Probably a check but be warned that I might have cleaned them out because I love it so much.

Free Coffee
Coffee makes us fix phones twice as fast.

We love Firecakes not only for their amazing treats, but for their originality and friendly team. At Jet City we believe in doing what we do well while striving to create a comfortable, unique space for our customers. We are always interested in supporting other businesses that do the same, which is why we think you’ll love Firecakes too! Come sample their donuts and coffee during our Grand Opening from April 1 – 14, and I bet you’ll want to pay them a visit again after.

Big Breakfast Plates at Couzin’s Cafe

Bellevue has some fancy places to enjoy breakfast, but sometimes you just want to grab some grub. You know what I’m talking about. Not flashy, hip, chic or modern. Sometimes a tiny waffle on a plank of wood just won’t cut it. That’s why during our last Jet City meeting shop meeting, we went to Couzin’s Cafe in Kirkland (what better way to discuss the business of fixing iPhones & iPads for people than over a stack of pancakes and a bottomless coffee).

Sure, it isn’t in Bellevue, but it’s not that far either. Plus, You’ll be hard pressed to find this sort of eatery in a city that houses the Bravern and Microsoft. The unassuming cafe sits right off NE 85th ave., next to Pub 85. A mere 15 minute drive from Jet City’s Bellevue store. If you blink, you’ll miss it, and I’m guessing that’s how the locals like it. You won’t find crowds of youngsters or large families piling in here. This is a real working class diner. “Shut up, and eat,” but with a smile.

You won’t find crowds of youngsters or large families piling in here.

The first thing I noticed was Couzin’s extensive selection of pancakes. Actually, that’s not true. The first thing I noticed was the cool fork-person holding the salt and pepper shakers, then the pancakes. Blueberry pancakes, banana pancakes, chocolate chip, and coconut pancakes. You want it: they probably have it. They all come in threes, and they’re all huge. You’ve been warned.

We ordered a cinnamon roll which is large enough to share with a friend, or just big enough to feel really good/guilty for enjoying it alone. The service was friendly and fast. My coffee mug, despite my best efforts, never dropped below half full (I’m the optimistic type). The dedicated coffee station next to our table was not only quaint and charming, but also ensured that everyone in the dining room would have the hottest coffee in an instant. I burnt my tongue.

The food was big and delicious. The place was cozy and warm. The bill was not very high. If you’re heading in to get your phone fixed, and you’re looking for a big plate of greasy spoon comfort food, consider stopping by Couzin’s Cafe in Kirkland. And get the cinnamon roll. You’ll thank me for it.

Kick the New Year’s Resolutions to the Curb. It’s Doughnut Time.

Hey, neighbors!

While setting up the new Jet City Device Repair location in Bellevue, we thought there was no better way to become acquainted with the city than stuffing our faces with delicious fried dough from Top Pot Doughnuts. Top Pot is a great place for our customers to grab a cup of coffee and a snack while we fix their iPhones and iPads. If you find yourself in Bellevue for any reason, you should stop by and enjoy some hot coffee, house-made sandwiches, and, of course, a doughnut or five.

Nestled at the base of the western residential tower at Washington Square is one of the doughnut chain’s over 20 locations. And what a gorgeous location it is. The cafe has a way of urging you to slow down and enjoy the simple things life has to offer. Inside, you’ll find all the classic trappings of a Top Pot cafe. I love the vintage eatery/library feel that Top Pot has crafted. To me, it’s the perfect blend of working class and sophistication. It’s warm, comfortable and extremely inviting. Whether you’re grabbing doughnuts on the go or settling in to get some work done, it’s always a joy stepping into the store and stepping back in time.

While getting your doughnut fix, you’re bound to see some cool football memorabilia. Like a signed Russell Wilson jersey and, of course, a few 12 flags. They are the official doughnut of the Seattle Seahawks, after all. If children’s music is your thing (and why wouldn’t it be?), musician Caspar Babypants makes regular appearances here. Pick up his CD inside or visit his site to learn when you can catch his next free live show. We can be banana bread!

Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy a good doughnut every so often, but I LOVE me some hot coffee. Perhaps the underappreciated hero of the cafe’s menu, Top Pot puts just as much effort into their coffee as they do they doughnuts. Their coffee is sustainably grown and hand-roasted in small batches. They aren’t kidding when they say “Hand-forged Doughnuts & Coffee.” The full-service coffee shop offers everything from delicious drip to an Ovaltine latte. They also have an Ovaltine cream doughnut to pair it with. Prepare for the nostalgia bomb.

Whether you’re in town shopping or you live here in Bellevue, you owe it to yourself to stop by our local doughnut shop. I know it’s still January, and we’re all still desperately clinging to those New Year’s resolutions (I’m looking at you, running shoes), but treat yo’self. For real. Slow down a bit. Grab a doughnut and a hot cup of coffee and enjoy one of life’s simple pleasures.
