Want to extend the life you get out of a single charge on your cell phone battery? There are a few tricks to help you get that last bit of life as you end the day. You might not be able to do much with these settings turned off, but it will ensure you can make & receive phone calls and text messages and maybe even do a little web surfing over the 3G network.
Depending on your device, you may find some of these features in different places. This list assumes you have an iPhone but the techniques hold true regardless of what kind of smartphone you own.
- Wi-Fi > Off.
- Bluetooth > Off.
- Privacy > Location Services > Off.
- General > Cellular > Enable 3G > Off.
- General > Cellular > Enable LTE > Off.
- Sounds > Vibrate on Ring & Silent > Off.
- Brightness & Wallpaper > Auto-Brightness > Off.
- Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Fetch New Data > Off.
By reducing the amount of data-traffic traveling between your iPhone and your carrier, you dramatically extend the battery life.
These steps also provide a great way to test your battery life and capabilities. If you’re noticing battery life issues, try the above steps for a day or two to test how long your battery life lasts.
