Save Money on a Trade-In iPhone Repair

How much will it cost if I don’t want the Lifetime guarantee?

That’s a common question this time of year. The newest phones are out and people want to trade-in their iPhone for the latest model.  But what if it’s broken? You need to get it fixed first. Price may not be the only issue you care about, but it becomes much more important when you plan to get rid of your phone right away.

  6. Highly trained, expert technicians.

But you probably don’t care about the lifetime guarantee or free 30-day protection plan if you’re about to do a trade-in. You’d rather save a few dollars.

We here you.

$20 Off Trade-In iPhone Repair

$20 Off Trade-In iPhone RepairWe are now offering customers looking to trade-in their iPhone a substantial discount: $20 off the list price of most iPhone repairs.

Important note: We will never sacrifice the quality of our work.

That means you can expect exceptional service even if you choose this discounted option. However, there are two things we can do to reduce our costs and give you a better price:

  1. A 10-day warranty instead of our lifetime guarantee.
  2. Free 30-day protection plan is NOT included.

Don’t worry, you will still get an amazing customer experience, have your phone fixed in about 30 minutes by serious professionals, and we’ll make sure there is ample coffee on hand to keep you well caffeinated.

Apple’s attempts to kill thousands of independent businesses

The cell phone repair business is estimated to be a $4 billion  industry (yes, Billion).  A big portion of those repairs are done by 3rd party repair shops – and Apple hopes to put an end to that.

Apple iPhone Repair GreedLet’s take a quick look at the timeline:

Here’s the thing, Apple got hit pretty hard with the error 53 code they put in. States all over the US started legislation for Right to Repair. Apple apologized for the error 53 debacle but they just got  more devious in their attempts to put 3rd party repair companies out of business.

Micro-Soldering Repairs for iPhone, iPad, Samsung, & More

In past year we’ve spent a lot of time and effort developing a few of our technicians into experts at micro-soldering repairs. We’ve sent people to soldering classes, purchased high-end equipment, spent tons of time researching, done a bunch of practicing, and fixed a lot of real-world, broken devices. We’ve become very good at diagnosing and fixing board-level problems because of these investments.

Jet City Device Repair Versus Apple

Is the only advantage of an Apple iPhone repair their control the software? We think so.

Apple has shown they are willing to “break” a customer’s iPhone if fixed by an independent shop. “Break” is in quotes because the phone isn’t really broken – they’re just using their software to punish people that dare to use someone other than Apple to fix their device. One example is the 2016 error 53 “upgrade” (which kicked off the Right to Repair movement – something we support).

More recently, people have been seeing the following message when upgrading to iOS 11.0.3:

Note: Non-genuine replacement displays may have compromised visual quality and may fail to work correctly. Apple-certified screen repairs are performed by trusted experts who use genuine Apple parts.

iPhone repair is a billion dollar a year business (that’s not a typo, it’s billion with a B). Apple wants all this revenue, and they have gotten extremely aggressive convincing (or punishing) people that prefer to use a different company. But outside of their control of the software (and willingness to use that control to harm their customers), do they really have an advantage?

We hate to toot our own horn but since Apple has decided to raise the issue of 3rd party repair quality, we feel the need to respond. The following may sound a bit braggadocios but it’s just the facts. Continue reading “Jet City Device Repair Versus Apple”

iPhone Touch Disease Repair

iPhone Touch Disease Repair
iPhone Touch Disease Repair

Has your iPhone’s touch screen stopped working for no apparent reason? Are you seeing gray bars at the top? Then you probably have the dreaded iPhone touch disease. This is where the solder on a small Integrated Circuit (IC Chip) fails and causes the touch screen on your iPhone to stop working (you will usually see gray bars at the top of your screen, too).

Your question might be, “Can you fix this?”

Our answer: “Yeah, we can fix that.”

What Sets Us Apart

One of the most frequent questions we get asked is, “Why is your repair service better than your competitors?”

Let me say that there are other good repair companies out there. But I truly believe what sets us apart is our core philosophy:

To make people’s lives better. Our employees, our customers, and our investors – in that order.

If we create happy and motivated employees, we’ll have happy customers. Happy customers lead to a solid bottom line.

Looking at our Yelp reviews, with a 4.5 or better rating at each of our stores with over 1250 customer reviews, it’s clear this strategy is working.

One Hour Device Repair is Now 20 Minutes

At Jet City Device Repair we take pride in creating a great customer experience. We think saving you time is one more way to do that.

Obviously we work hard to create a super high-quality device repair at a great price. That’s step #1 in a great service. We also do our best to hire friendly staff that can provide this service with a smile.

But we’ve found it’s the little things that really help set us apart: clean & comfortable waiting area, stores located in convenient locations, free coffee & snacks, multiple ways to schedule an appointment, open 7-days a week (most locations), open until 7pm on weeknights, and more.

This not only results in a premier device repair, but, if our customer reviews or the New York Times are to be believed, one of the best overall customer experiences with any business.

To continue improving on that, another area we’ve worked hard to improve is our overall repair time. In particular with the various iPhone devices. This is important for two reasons: waiting just isn’t fun and you probably don’t want to be without your iPhone for any length of time.

Through a series of efforts, we’ve been able to whittle our iPhone device repair from about one hour to 20 minutes!

Apple’s Error 53 is About Greed, Not Security

Apple’s claim that they must disable an iPhone after its home button is replaced for security reasons makes no sense. It’s Apple’s attempt to get even more money out of its users.

If Apple’s software can recognize the home button has been replaced, simply disable the fingerprint sensor and require a passcode. Inconvenient for a user, but not a catastrophe.

People can still have the pictures of their kids, pets, texts with loved ones, and all the other valuable content we keep on our phones. It doesn’t all just disappear because they chose the fiscally responsible action of having their broken iPhone fixed by someone other than Apple.

The most likely reason for Apple doing this is profit, not security.

How To Avoid Error 53 With Your iPhone Repair

The best way to deal with an error 53 problem? Go to a reputable repair company for your cracked iPhone screen and you won’t have to worry about it.

The Guardian broke a story a about Apple a few days ago. It was about a software update that will make iPhone’s with a replaced home button no longer work at all (frequently referred to as a “bricked iPhone”). From the article:

It’s the message that spells doom and will render your handset worthless if it’s been repaired by a third party. But there’s no warning and no fix.

But this quote from the article is EXTREMELY MISLEADING because the statement is incomplete. In particular, here’s what it should say:

It’s the message that spells doom and will render your handset worthless if it’s [home button has been replaced by a third party that messed up a screen repair and ripped your home button cable].
