Frequently Asked Questions
How do you compare with insurance?
Both repair and insurance fix your devices when they break, the payment and process varies with each service.
Repair – You pay for what breaks. There’s no contract and you’re billed when you get the fixed device back.
Insurance – You sign a contract and pay up front for every device you own (usually on a 1-3 year basis). You also pay a deductible when a device breaks.
Insurance ends up being significantly more expensive because you’re paying for all of your devices instead of the 10% that break. As we like to say, if insurance was a good deal, they wouldn’t offer it.
How experienced are you?
We’ve been at it for over seven years with 200,000+ fixed devices under our belt. We work with many schools across the country fixing their iPads and Chromebooks.
We don’t give out information about our customers, but we’d be glad to put you in touch with one of the schools we work with if you’d like a reference.
Is my school too small/large?
Our service is designed for any size school. Whether you’re sending us a broken device every two months or twenty a week, we’re equipped to handle it.
Where are you located?
Our physical locations are in Chicago and Seattle, but we work with schools all over the country.
I'm a teacher and I'm interested in your service, what should I do?
You can point your technical coordinator, IT director or principal in the direction of our home page. Alternatively, send an email to the person in charge of device repair and cc: firstname.lastname@example.org
What do you fix?
We fix most models of the iPad and most brands of Chromebooks, as well as iPhones and some Samsung phones. Unfortunately we’re not fixing laptops at this time.
The majority of our repairs are on the screen or headphone jack, but we can fix a wide variety of issues, from keyboards to volume buttons.
How much does a repair cost?
Most iPad repairs are $89 and most Chromebook repairs are $99. Please get in touch with us for more detailed pricing.
How do I pay?
We’ll work with whatever billing service you prefer, PO, check, credit card – we’re flexible.
What does your contract look like?
There is none! We prefer that our customers work with us because it’s a pleasant experience – not because they’re locked into a contract. If your PO requires a commitment we’re glad to accommodate.
Do you offer a warranty?
Our lifetime guarantee covers all our parts and workmanship. If a replaced part stops working (very rare), we redo the repair at no cost. The guarantee doesn’t include theft, new damage or water damage.
How long does it take?
The average time for the whole repair process is about a week. Depending on how close you are, shipping will take 1-3 days each way. Once we’ve received your devices they will generally be fixed the same day or next.
How does shipping work?
We work with UPS to provide you with a simple and unobtrusive experience.
First we send you a pre-paid label and shipping supplies designed to keep your devices safe. Then you box up your devices and ship them out. If your school doesn’t use UPS we can request a pick-up. Devices are shipped back the same way – safe and secure.
Is there a diagnostic fee?
Nope. We’re glad to take a look at your devices free of charge and let you know what’s wrong.
How will the device look after the repair?
If we’re replacing the glass or LCD, it will look brand new. Damage done to parts we aren’t replacing will remain the same, although if there’s a way we can improve it, we will.
